FUNDALA PROGRAM

Eco Awareness Program: 1st Environmental Photography Exhibition

The need to promote environmental education motivates us to come together and form alliances for the development of the project: 1st Environmental Photography Exhibition of the Maracaibo Lake Basin, aimed at amateur photographers. This initiative seeks to contribute to the formation of an eco-responsible citizenry through a high-quality educational project that encourages participation and shared environmental responsibility, while also creating a visual record of the flora and fauna of Lake Maracaibo.

Eco Consciousness

The Maracaibo Lake Basin, like many regions around the world, faces serious environmental challenges as a result of population growth and industrial development. In light of this situation, there is an urgent need to cultivate a conscious and engaged community capable of addressing these issues through a sense of belonging, knowledge mastery, and the capacity for action.

This cultural initiative, in its educational mission, recognizes that changing citizens’ attitudes toward environmental issues requires innovative and multidisciplinary approaches that inspire the public to develop ecological awareness and offer creative solutions to sustainability challenges at both regional and global levels.

It is essential to remember that the Maracaibo Lake Basin is a geographic, environmental, and cultural unit responsible for generating historical, cultural, food, and energy resources. It is also home to a population whose social development depends on the activities and ecological quality of this ecosystem.

This event is also connected to International Museum Day, celebrated on May 18, and marks the beginning of the 1st Environmental Photography Exhibition, which will conclude in September of this year. The exhibition will be hosted at the Lía Bermúdez Center for the Arts in Maracaibo, and the award will be presented by the Lucy Amado Foundation (FUNDALA), further promoting a culture of peace, environmental preservation, and care for the region’s ecosystem.
