FUNDALA PROGRAM
The Lucy Amado Foundation (Fundala) is committed to promoting national and international artistic and cultural activities through sponsorships and advisory support. Its mission is to support emerging artists so they can gain visibility and recognition in society, based on the belief that culture is an essential part of a citizen’s holistic development—enriching their worldview and their environment.
Fundala continues to champion Venezuelan art and culture. Encouraging connection, enjoyment, and a culture of peace has long been a central mission of artistic expression in the Zulia region. This area has been home to numerous painters who have stood out for their expressive, emotional, and thoughtful work. One such artist is Orlando Barrios Delgado, who—with the support and sponsorship of the Lucy Amado Foundation (Fundala)—presented his exhibition in Maracaibo entitled:
“Wayuú Artistic Expression”
Promotes Zulia Culture
International speaker and president of Fundala, Lucy Amado, was present at the opening of artist Orlando Barrios Delgado’s solo exhibition, “Wayuu Worldview and Deities Karatsu,” at the Lía Bermúdez Art Center in Maracaibo.
This exhibition by artist Orlando Barrios Delgado reveals, on canvas, the artist’s worldview, in relation to the most intimate beliefs of the sacred world that surrounds this ancient Wayuu ethnic group..
How can young people promote a culture of peace?
Lucy Amado, president of Fundala, brought the message of a culture of peace to the youth of the Pentecostal Church King of Kings in the San Sebastián neighborhood, located in the Pomona area of the city of Maracaibo.
The young people and pastors of the King of Kings church were very receptive during the talk. They actively participated with their questions and shared anecdotes based on their daily personal experiences in their community. These reflections arose through the presentation of key points such as peaceful conflict resolution, negotiation, mediation, and especially the question: How can young people promote a culture of peace?
Citizens promoting a culture of peace
Lucy Amado, president of the Lucy Amado Foundation (Fundala), visited Rafael María Baralt High School, where she gave a talk titled “Citizens in Support of a Culture of Peace,” addressed to the students and teachers of the institution. This presentation was part of the foundation’s “Active Citizenship” program, which aims to bring a message of peace and reconciliation to school communities, as well as raise awareness by promoting the values of a true culture of peace.
During the talk, young people were given the opportunity to share their experiences and opinions, resulting in full interaction between the speaker and the students. The participants were very engaged, and some even expressed interest in volunteering with the Lucy Amado Foundation.
Conference: How to Be Good Citizens
The youth from the Pequeñas Ligas de las Águilas del Zulia Foundation attended the conference “How to Be Good Citizens” given by Fundala’s president, Lucy Amado, at the “Luis Aparicio el Grande” stadium in the city of Maracaibo.
The talk focused on the values we all should embrace when thinking about being good citizens. Values such as respect, tolerance, and rejection of violence were taught to these young people, who actively participated and responded positively throughout the conference.
Additionally, the parents of these young participants also attended the session. Like their children, they enjoyed the activities and lessons presented by the president of the Lucy Amado Foundation. All participants showed great interest in fostering change through a culture of peace and conflict resolution to help form better citizens.
